Feeding

Puppies should be fed four times a day until they are twelve weeks, three times a day until they are six months and twice a day for the rest of their lives.

Feed a diet with less additives, colours and preservatives, too high a protein content or a poor protein source can all be implicated in causing behaviour problems. Try and find a feed that has a good meat/fish protein source and less cereal added.

Exercise

Puppies -Two fifteen minute walks a day are adequate on growing joints and limbs, don’t forget some mental stimulation in the form of training and thinking toys.

Work up to two thirty minute walks a day when they are six months old and when they are about a year you can walk him for as long as you want and start agility. (Please note larger breeds take longer to mature so may need longer to be developed fully).

Liver Cake Recipe

Many dogs like liver cake and it can be great to use for training, here is a recipe to make it:
1 lb. Self-raising flour
1 lb. Liver
2 Eggs
1 cup of milk
Water to mix

Put the liver and eggs through a blender until smooth.
Gradually add the flour and milk, and top up with water until you have a sponge-like consistency.
Put the mixture into a flat baking tray
Place in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees
Cook until no liquid remains when tested with a needle or fork (roughly 30-60 minutes)
Cool it off, before cutting into cubes, bagging it up and freezing it in separate packages
